INCLUSIVITY #Blogchatter #WriteAPageADay
Today I thought that
I would create an acrostic poem out of the word ‘Inclusivity’ which is the
theme of my #Blogchatter #WriteAWordADay challenge.
An acrostic poem is one in which the first letters of every line spell a word. This word forms the subject of the poem as well.
I set out one day,
confident that I would conquer the world
Never doubting that I
would, one day, crest the sublime peak,
Carrier of the creative
genes that were meant to set me apart
Legacy or
inheritance, bequeathed by skilled ancestors old;
Unwilling, alas, were
folks to accept my art and my gifts,
Surely, they scoffed,
this girl has nothing wondrous to bestow;
I encountered a roadblock,
halted, pondered awhile,
Validating my talent appeared
too tedious a chore;
Instead of winning, my
goal post was now sheer joy
Turning my talent not
to conquer, but to spread good cheer.
Yes! A willing world
of acceptance smiled and found me.
I wrote this poem because I believe that art is like an elusive butterfly that flits away every time you try to grasp it. However, if you sit back, and let the beauty of the universe overwhelm your senses, it will alight on your shoulder and stay with you as long as you are still.
Hence, do not hanker
after success or conquest. Just enjoy the process and let things happen to you.
And believe me, they will!
