THE THIRTY-NINE STEPS #WRITEAPAGEADAY #BLOGCHATTER

Thirty-nine years have gone by since we tied the knot. It
has been an eventful journey, replete with companionable moments, squabble major
and minor, smiles and surprises. Neither of us would have had it any other way,
I guess!
Since it had been an extremely hectic week, with a quick
two-day trip to Mumbai thrown in to attend a close friend’s son’s wedding, we
decided to go the Hyatt Regency for a celebratory lunch. This being our maiden
visit, we were quite looking forward to it.
The impressive building loomed before us as we drove in around noon. As we strolled through the well maintained lobby, it quite took our breath away.
Right from the start, the service was impeccable. Our waiter, a pretty young girl, aptly named Noorjahan, along with Akhil, another enthusiastic soul, made sure that we had everything we wanted. While we were waiting, we happened to go through the menu, and our eyes fell on the eye-catching notes and messages which warmed the cockles of our hearts. I couldn't resist taking snapshots of them purely because they were so unusual.
The starters, prawn Tempura, and chicken and pork
dumplings, were delectable, along with a glass of fresh watermelon juice. (The
bar is not functional yet.)
There was an elaborate buffet which was laid out inside, the size of which scared us. We decided that we would try something on the menu instead, and that was a good decision. The succulent tawa paratha and tandoori roti, lamb curry with spices, lahsooni (garlicky) yellow dal and a green salad, all of which delighted our taste buds. The lamb was a trifle chewy, but the masala was delicious. Right through, we had a cheery conversation with the two people who were serving us, and the fact that it was our anniversary slipped out.
Even though our stomachs were close to bursting, how
could we forego dessert? While I opted for the Crème Brulee, my better half
played it safe with vanilla ice cream.
As we were digging into our desserts with gusto, a little
cake arrived with ‘Happy Anniversary’ on it, a sweet gesture by the hotel.
As we finished our meal, our hearts were also full. It
had been a good afternoon replete with delicious food, excellent service and a
wonderful ambience, an afternoon that would remind us of our 39th anniversary
for a long time to come.
A huge Thank You to the Hyatt Regency for making our day
special!
That's quite a celebration 👍
