What happens when an old flame comes back into one’s
life, inflaming all the passion that had lain dormant over the years. That
is exactly what Neerav, a scientist in a National Research Lab in Indore goes
through when Shweta, whom he had met in Mumbai during their training, gets
transferred to Indore. However, Shweta, an ambitious divorcee, defensive by nature,
is not looking for romance, especially because she is disgruntled at having
been sent to a minor research lab in a smaller city.
Neerav lives with his widowed mother and younger sister,
Neeti, both of whom want to see him happily married. However, something has
always held him back. While he and Shweta slowly get back to their old footing,
Shweta is petrified of being judged by others, and especially her career being
affected in any way. She refuses to let her personal and professional lives collide. Her past life has been a nightmare. “… life isn’t always black and
white. It has all kinds of grey that we live with every day.” Shweta ends on a
dire note. “If you let a very light grey slide, next time the grey gets a bit
darker. And slowly over a period of time, the grey keeps getting darker and
darker and darker until one day you wake up and realise that it’s almost black.”
Though it is a bitter experience, Shweta still hangs on. “Something
inside me was broken. But something inside me had also awoken.”
Neerav is her only friend, and he does not push
boundaries, judge or preach. He keeps their relationship level, going to the
extent of even pulling her leg.
Things come to a head when Shweta gets transferred back
to Mumbai and Neerav decides to follow his mother’s wishes and meet a girl and
opt for an arranged marriage. Will their lives collide again? Will Shweta get
over her fears and be ready to allow someone into her life? Or will Neerav quash
the passion in his heart and compromise? These questions keep the readers on their
toes till the very end.
