Happy First Birthday, Blogchatter!
When I first
registered on Blogchatter, I was not sure what I was getting into. However, the
name sounded tempting because it encompassed two things I enjoyed – blogging and
chating. I tentatively put a toe in to test the waters, watching the videos
posted by the erudite founders with awe. The possibilities were mind-boggling,
the opportunities galore.
I have been writing since
the age of ten, because words have always fascinated me. I love the idea of
juggling them around to create content that I enjoy reading. I have always
believed that if I don’t like what I write, no one else will either. Believe
me, that’s the gospel truth!
Here was an
opportunity to write and create and throw ideas around. There was a huge
network of writers who were all working to better their writing. What was even
better was the fact that these writers were readers as well, and hence, every piece
of writing got read and appreciated. As a matter of fact, to get read and reviewed
is tougher than getting a tooth pulled out!
That is how I ended
up taking part in the various programmes offered by Blogchatter. I sat down,
planned my posts, and put them out there, aware that I had to create content
every day in order to finish the programme. Of course, there were nights when I
burnt the midnight oil, pulling my hair out trying to finish a particular post!
However, the good
part was writing on a loved topic every single day, with Sundays off, and the
result was an eBook titled ‘The Best Words in the Best Order’ that got read and
reviewed by fellow writers, God bless them!
Now I am all set to
participate in #MyFriendAlexa, and once again I look forward to the discipline
of planning my posts beforehand and posting them over fifteen days. It is this discipline
that helps us as writers, especially when life gets chaotic, and twenty-four hours
are not enough to do all the things we want. I enjoy being part of Blogchatter because
it provides me a protected environment where I can read, write and engage with
other writers as well.
I would like to
congratulate the founder members of Blogchatter for having had the imagination
and foresight to bring together such a vibrant community of like-minded people,
and for having the patience to sustain the tempo, which at the best of times,
is no easy task. Do carry on with the great work and may our community grow in
leaps and bounds over the years!
God bless!
