THE HARD FIGHT
There are days when you awaken with a smile,
The sunrays fall on your face, adding warmth to your day,
You jump out of bed refreshed, you could walk a mile,
It’s joyful to know that you will never lose your way!
The birds, they chirp, the bees buzz along,
The leaves rustle in the breeze that ruffles your hair,
At that moment you feel that you truly belong,
The world’s your oyster, you’re ready for any dare!
All’s right with the world, Pippa said, as she passed,
God’s in his heaven, all things set aright,
Every creature, big and small, in this world vast,
Has its own special space in the universe bright.
Then comes a day, when the clouds hang low,
The blue sky turns grey, your mood follows suit,
Your heart sinks right down to your toes, and below,
Melancholy strikes deep, in your mind takes deep root.
A day when all your dreams come crashing down,
When the raindrops gush out much akin to salty tears,
Your radiant smile is replaced by a testy frown,
As your hopes get drowned in your deepest fears.
Whatever you have achieved, bouquets and brickbats,
The diligence that you are proud of, everything takes
flight,
Strong rivals wreak havoc; they twist all the facts,
It is the perfect time to gear up, time to fight the hard
fight.
It is up to you to cower in a corner, afraid of the battle
ahead,
Where shadows envelop you, making you tremble and cry,
Or you could, instead, stand tall, hold high your head,
Be firm, face the danger, stand up or hope to die.
Let us then be up and doing, continue with the psalm of
life,
Keep striving on, with faith in a greater power above,
Stay clear of unpleasantness, the turmoil and the strife,
Walk on towards a world of understanding, peace and love.
