FUN TIMES WITH ZO AND SAM! #BLOGCHATTERA2ZCHALLENGE

I have always believed that laughter makes the world go around. Within the family, we have our own jokes that keep us smiling when we are together. We call them our ‘jokelies’ and it was our maternal uncle who started us off on them. We continued with the tradition and even today, when my sisters and I get together, there are special jokes that never fail to elicit a smile.

This time in Johannesburg, it came as a pleasant surprise when I found the kids cracking their own set of jokes.

There are times when Zo, Sam and I have fun conversations. They come up with the funniest of jokes. There is a song with all these jokes titled 'Dad Jokes' by Elise Ecklund.

Here are a few samples that cracked me up!

Zo – “Why can’t a skeleton skydive?
Because it doesn’t have guts.”

Sam: “Why can’t eggs tell jokes?

Because they crack each other up.”

                                                                                               Pngtree

So, every time we sit together, they come up with these jokes. One day we were in the car, and we went over a speed bump. Zo suddenly remarked, “I used to be afraid of speedbumps, but now I’m getting over it.”

Sam had his own little joke. “What did the ocean say to the beach? Nothing, it just waved.”

Sometimes, they surprise me with the words they know. The other day, we were having noodles and Zo came up with, “What do you call a fake noodle? An impasta!” 😊 She followed that up with another gem. “How does a taco say grace? Lettuce pray!”

There are school jokes as well. As Sam put it, “What school do you greet people in? Hi school!”

P and V restrict the little ones from too much screen time, but it is only when you see the level of their understanding of puns, that you realise how much they take in.

Zo came up with one of her favourites.

“Why were the teacher’s eyes crossed? Because she could not control her pupils.”

Sam chimed in with his own version of the answer. “Because she was cross!”

It is good fun to be with young minds. They can come out with the most outrageous statements. Reminds one of the popular old show – ‘Kids Say the Darndest Things.’

I thought I would also be canny and add on my own jokes to their repertoire. My favourites?

“Don’t trust atoms. They make up everything.”

“I ate a clock for breakfast, and it was super time-consuming.”

I was a bit concerned that Zo and Sam would not get these, but to my pride and surprise, they did.

The funny bone genes have made their presence felt in the newest generation yet.
